Richard’s Wagner’s term “Gesamtkunstwerk” or “total work of art” means joining all arts in one magnificent work. Following the initiative from Estonian artist Henri Hütt (and his performance “Sisenemine sisenemisse” together with Veiko Tubin) Latvian artists are creating a performance with a similar goal - they are trying to fuse all Latvian theaters together in honor of World Theater day.

With this project the artists will greet the audience on this special day by presenting a broadcast at 19:00 March 27. The performance will be available for free only on this day on the websites of Dirty Deal Teatro (in Latvian) and Kanuti Gildi SAAL (in English).

According to Henri Hütt: “The initial aim of the project was to find something that unites Latvian theatres. What could be the unique quintessence connecting the theatres of this country?

But later it became a realization that we had overestimated our abilities. Now, a year later, an uncompromising success seems like the safest and the most uninteresting scenario. Just as if it was fate cutting our plans with dramaturgical scissors at the most suspenseful moment, that can now only be looked back on.

No one has been connecting theatres and performing arts venues in the way we are and I really like the impossibleness in it.

I am amazed how every meeting and connection is possible to organise with just one phone call. This project stands for unreachable art and how we as artists made everything to push through our utopian dream."

Performance was first planned to be presented on World Theater Day last year.
