A week full of performing arts in Tartu by Kanuti Gildi SAAL
Kanuti Gildi SAAL is coming to Tartu from the 18th until the 23rd of April and bringing along four performances: “For your Nirvana” by Karolin Poska, “Yokoonomatopoems” by Riina Maidre and Andri Luup, “The Well” by Maria Metssalu and “Pure Pink Pox”, a performance premiering at the festival, by The Biofilm Sisters. A week filled with performances, artistic talks and a performative pop-up bookstore make up a festival called Switch over which is like a mixtape created with love from Tallinn to Tartu. All components of this intense week examine the possibilities and impossibilities of performing arts from different angles. Everyone can find their personal way or even a portal to better understand and experience art.

The festival week kicks off with a site specific performance “For your Nirvana” by Karolin Poska. Its three showings will take place in Tartu Art House. “Yokoonomatopoems” by Riina Maidre and Andri Luup, a performance inspired by the 1960’s performance art legend Yoko Ono has three showings in the newly opened tARTu Gallery. Maria Metssalu and her international crew will perform “The Well” twice at Tartu Genialistide Klubi. The festival ends with two showings of “Pure Pink Pox” at Tartu New Theater, a piece by The Biofilm Sisters aka Arolin Raudva, Katrin Kreutzberg, Mari-Liis Eskusson and Alise Bokaldere. The performative pop-up bookstore Kausaal – this time in collaboration with Unholy 3nity – will contribute to the festival program by illuminating the potential links between performing arts and literature and showing how these two fields interact. There will also be artist talks moderated by theater science students from Tartu University.
