Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) is once again organizing an exciting and special
Scrapyard series concert performance dedicated to Lo-Fi music. Scrapyard concert series started
in 2020 and the aim is to bring to the stage works that combine contemporary music and
different media, creating a combination of DIY, Lo-Fi and classical contemporary music.
Movement plays an important role in the works presented at the concert performance, where the
choreographic ensemble of musicians uses musical instruments with expanded capabilities,
performing several highly effective and technically complex works by composer Hugo Morales
Murguia. The works are not only limited to conceptual manifestation, but the movement is also
concretely manifested in the resulting changing the sound.
Interdisciplinary projects that include technology and combine different media have become a
very important part of the contemporary music repertoire today, and Ensemble for New Music
Tallinn is very happy to once again present these works to the Estonian audience.

Founded in 2012, Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) is internationally the most active
Estonian contemporary music ensemble, being an important platform for experiencing new
music and expanding the possibilities for composers. The ensemble wants to bring the most
remarkable part of new music to the listeners and offer contemporary creators an outcome for the
first performance of their work. Since its creation, the Ensemble for New Music Tallinn has
remained faithful to its musical mission, enriching both local and international cultural life with a
carefully selected program and a fresh approach.
The ensemble works closely with several Estonian music festivals and has collaborated with
many festivals and associations across Europe: Mixtur festival in Barcelona, Warsaw autumn,
ORF Musikprotokoll in Graz, CrossRoads in Salzburg, Ostrava Music Days, MusicOlomouc
festival, Classical:NEXT, reMusik festival in St. Petersburg, Inner Sound New Arts festival in
Bucharest, Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), Salzburg Mozarteum, Resonanta Association in

After concluding his studies at the Center of Research and Musical Studies (CIEM) in Mexico
City, Hugo Morales Murguía moved to The Netherlands to continue his postgraduate studies
with the support of “The Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher
Education”. He holds a master's degree in Music Composition from the Royal Conservatory in
The Hague, a master's degree in Sonology (with “Distinction”) from the Institute of Sonology in
The Hague, and a PhD degree from the Centre of Contemporary Music Practice (CCMP) Brunel
University, London.
He is mainly working on the boundaries between traditional instruments, found objects,
performance technique and technology, as the development of alternative forms of sound
generation for music composition is essential in his work.
