Kara Popicon (nee Karolina Peterson) is a visual artist with a background in scenography, currently predominantly working with video. In her work she mainly explores topics of alienation and escapism, taking inspiration from her own multi cultural background, that being Estonian-Russian-Latvian.

Her debut film "Riia mu Arm" was about her city of birth - Riga. A place that is now marked by estrangement, as she tried to fit into the scenery she left five years ago. Trying to melt into the socio-political landscape, she found herself alone, with a past she had to forget to move on, and the present she could not grasp.

In her new work ".proj" she continues to explore the topic of alienation, now caused by experiencing partial homelessness and joblessness, as her career as a scenographer did not work out as planned. There is a slavic saying that could be translated like this:

"If the house is burning, let the sauna burn too"

This work is about that.
About that, and the intriguing art of striptease.
