During the residency in Kanuti Gildi SAAL, L. Puska explores material agency and the role of the artwork as a performer. In her performance piece URGENT–- Residency for Artworks (2023-), Puska invites artworks from other artists to live with her. Carrying the objects around, she engages in interactions and discussions through their existence. The performance stems from the necessity to reconsider our relationship to objects in the times of overproduction and exhausting consumption.
The residency performance has run with several artworks from different artists. To Tallinn, L. Puska will travel with Blob, a sculpture by Eva Spierenburg, a permanent resident and co-performer of Puska.
L. Puska is an interdisciplinary artist from Finland. She considers objects as potential companions and a performative gesture as a tool to direct attention. Expanding from sculpting and performance to collaborative practices and choreographed routines, she is curious about forms of co-authorship, micro-social relations and agency.
Puska’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, i.e. in Kanal - Center Pompidou in Brussels, Looiersgracht 60 in Amsterdam, and AMNUA Art Museum of Nanjing. She has participated in residencies in Kunsthal Gent, Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and Paay Gaah in Iran.
Puska currently lives and works in Ghent, Belgium.
