Piibe has an archive, the archive of her friend Andy Männik. It consists of videos and writings, phone calls and memories, bookshelves, theatre programs, and cloth-bags-eaten-by-mice. Andy was in Tartu, Elva, Germany, Ohio, Pennsylvania, France and then New York. There he made stages for Merce Cunningham and John Cage, and TV’s for June Paik. Is this what matters most? He didn’t make traps for mice, buddhism wouldn’t let him. Perhaps that’s the most important.

In the residency Piibe will try to be with the archive, look, detangle and reassemble the lining. Edit sequences that hinge on “and”. For almost at least seven years Piibe has wished for editing to be a spacial and moving activity. In the residency she can try that. What kind of a room it will create and who will they be there with Andy, remains to be seen.

Piibe Kolka is a filmmaker and artist, who’s interested in bodily impulses and a spaces of presence.

The residency is supported by Cultural Endowment.
